Model: One or more facilities or spaces are available specifically for students to collaborate and do project work; the spaces can be used for face-to-face and/or virtual collaboration among students and teachers; they can also be used as exhibition spaces; may include a STEM lab

1.4 - Physical Space

All classrooms at Patriots have been set up to support collaboration among students. In addition to STEM content in the classroom, teachers have several spaces available to reserve for students to work on PBL or engineering challenges. Teachers have an opportunity to sign up for classes in our STEM lab with either the STEM coach or STEM coordinator. Activities in the lab range from "tinker time" to content specific lessons co-created by the teacher and STEM coordinator. Teachers can also reserve a collaborative space in the media center. This space has been cleared specifically for student group work and activities that need extra room. Teachers can also work with our technology facilitator to allow students to work in our green room to create movies.

In addition to the many indoor spaces we have available for student work, we have a learning garden ready for students to explore. We are also in the process of designing and creating a nature trail and outdoor classroom for another science experience.
